I got the chance to watch Risen in it's entirety with everything layed in (including full audio!) last night. Total zen. It's turned out far above my wildest expectations. I want to thank everyone again for all thier work on Risen, especially Damon, David Feagan, Thomas Liberty, and Alan Shipp who have been locked in dungeons for months thanklessly working on the postproduction finishing this movie. As Feagan was struggling with the rather massive audio requirements of Risen, he did a bit of analysis trying to figure out why it was taking so long. Apparently, among all of the zombie movies he researched (all of the zombie classics), we have the most minutes of screen time directly involving zombie action. The bad news for him was that meant that he had a very difficult job of creating a rather intense and complex foly job. The good news is for you my dear friends. Risen turned out precisely as I'd hoped-An action packed zombie movie with heart. Freddie Agular is working on getting the DVD Menus put together, then we'll get a small run of DVDs created with Brian Level's artwork on them to send out for screeners to the distributors that have requested them. The million dollar question-When will I get to see RISEN? Answer: I don't know. If we're able to work a deal fairly soon with one of the distributors that has requested a screener then the answer is it might be at a video store near you soon. Otherwise, we'll be doing months, maybe a year or more of marketing and film festivals around the world before Risen will be available in your area. I promise, however, that we will have a Waco area premimere, most likely at the Bellmead Civic center where 1/3 of the movie was shot. They've done some impressive rennovations over there since we managed to destroy it in the filming of Risen (Thanks again to the people of Bellmead, you are my HEROS!). |
